Issue 141

Contemporary stitch patterns take centre stage in our Modern Textures collection!

Designs include an elegant cardigan in a decorative twisted rib, a chunky sweater by Sarah Hatton, and a feminine yoked jumper by Oksana Dymyd featuring a fascinating cluster stitch. Our designers have used a mix of classic and contemporary shapes to create timeless fitted cardigans, tops and pullovers, and easy-going garments with a modern look. We showcase a range of special British yarns from The Fibre Co., UK Alpaca, Fyberspates and Cambrian Mountains Wool, plus we discover the fascinating story of Uist Wool, a yarn collective in the Outer Hebrides.

Our special supplement explores the beautiful, vintage-inspired style of Jennie Atkinson, with two original garment designs and an interview with Jennie.

Issue 139

From traditional and modern Fair Isle to chic cables and intricate lace motifs, there’s a wealth of beautiful stitch patterns for you to enjoy in our latest pattern collection.

Do you love to knit shawls? We have a pretty, beaded crescent design by Jem Arrowsmith, and a light-as-a-feather fine lace wrap from Rebecca Blair. Mary Henderson has been creative with Fair Isle to bring us a contemporary short-sleeved jumper, and we have a vintage-style men’s tank top in West Yorkshire Spinners wool.

Plus, we find out what it’s really like to run a yarn shop, courtesy of Debbie Judd at Wool on the Exe. Our special supplement includes a timeless Fair Isle top, plus an interview with Daniela Yrjö Koskinen, the fourth generation of her family to run the Novita yarn company in Finland.

Get set for spring with our new collection of lightweight layers, colourful patterns, and pretty textures!

We’re celebrating the versatility of lace, and our designers have been playing with stitch patterns and shapes to create contemporary yet totally wearable garments. Our ‘Modern Lace’ collection includes a breath-taking cardigan by Jeanette Sloan, and a feminine slipover by Jennie Atkinson.

We’re passionate about colour, too, so we have bright and breezy designs using Fair Isle and slip stitch patterns, including the chic ‘Quince Blossom’ cowl by Sophie McKane. We meet the Swedish designer Kristin Blom, chat with Jess James-Thomson, the hand-dyer behind Ginger Twist Studio, and discover the story of the entrepreneurial Victorian knitting writer and yarn shop owner Elizabeth Jackson.

Our special supplement includes two projects by the wonderful Martin Storey: a handsome cabled sweater for men, and a relaxed jumper with pockets for women.

In this issue, we're celebrating Rowan’s 40th birthday, with a look at the iconic brand's history and its anniversary celebrations, along with an interview with the influential Rowan designer Kim Hargreaves.

We also welcome the arrival of Finnish yarn brand Novita to the UK, and meet the inspirational woman behind Rauwerk. Plus, we have a stunning cardigan in Kidsilk Haze by the queen of colour, Zandra Rhodes.
