Bombed Yarns (Sarah) and Salamanca Wool Shop (Cheryl) have teamed up to bring Shelley Husband to Hobart to teach crochet classes based around her new book Granny Square Garden.
Shelley will be in town on Saturday (7th ) and Sunday (8th) November to share her skills with us. We are offering classes that cover the beginner to advanced crocheters.
THE PROGRAMME
Saturday 7th Nov at Bombed Yarns 16 Smith Street, North Hobart
AM Plant Granny Square Seeds - learn to read patterns and charts so you can tackle patterns with confidence.
PM Cultivate Granny Square Skills - the most advanced workshop Shelley is offering.
Saturday 5.30pm Meet and Greet Shelley at Salamanca Wool Shop, 69 Salamanca Place. An opportunity purchase your Granny Square Garden book and have it signed. Or if you already have the book come along and have Shelley sign your copy. Copies of the book are now available at Salamanca Wool Shop.
Saturday 6.15pm Dinner with Shelley at the Ball and Chain, Salamanca Place. Join Shelley, Sarah and Cheryl at the Ball and Chaine for relaxed catch up time over food and a beverage. A reservation fee of $20.00 will need to be paid to secure your spot. Full details shown below.

CLASS INFORMATION
Advanced, Cultivate Granny Square Skills
This workshop is for experienced/confident crocheters who want to dive into texture and intricate details. You will explore complicated stitch variations and unique techniques using some of the new complex blooms from Granny Square Garden.
Requirements:
Skills Needed: Confident with reading patterns and charts and most crochet stitches and techniques.
Bring: 100 grams solid coloured 8 ply yarn of any fibre, 4.5 mm hook, scissors & yarn needle crochet stitch markers
Beyond Beginner, Myriad Cowl
To support those who would like to move from feeling like a beginner and those who need a confident boost in their crochet skills. Join Shelley in this project based workshop to bring a new twist to your crochet. You’ll make a start on a double-sided Möbius cowl using two new patterns from Granny Square Garden.
Requirements:
Skills Needed: Can read a pattern or chart. familiar with most crochet stitches and techniques.
Bring: 2 x 100 grams solid coloured 4 ply yarn of any fibre – 2 colours, 4 mm hook, scissors & yarn needle, crochet stitch markers
Beyond Beginner, Plant Granny Square Seeds
This workshop has been created for those who have been crocheting but want to up their skills beyond the basics. Join Shelley to demystify written patterns and crochet charts using new granny squares from Granny Square Garden. You’ll be led by Shelley, step-by-step so you can learn how to tackle adventurous patterns with total confidence.
Requirements:
Skills needed: Can crochet a traditional granny square.
Bring: 50 grams solid coloured yarn (any weight or fibre) in 2 colours, hook size to suit yarn (eg. 8 ply & a 4 or 4.5 mm hook), scissors & yarn needle, crochet stitch markers.
Dinner with Shelley Husband
If you have booked a class or two with Shelley then you are welcome to join Shelley, Sarah and Cheryl for dinner at the Ball and Chain on 7 November at 6.15pm. This is a great opportunity to share relaxed time with Shelley and fellow crocheters over some food and a beverage or two. Bookings for this event will close on 24 October 2026.
A reservation fee of $20.00 will need to be paid to secure your spot. Your reservation fee goes towards the shared entree plates. Please advise dietary requirements when you book. All other food or drink consumed will be at your own cost.
By purchasing a ticket to this event, you are confirmed a spot. If you are unable to attend, let us know and if we can fill your spot we'll refund your ticket (minus the transaction fees). If we are not able to fill your spot, We won't be able to refund your ticket.
