The Lexington Woolies Cormo/Alpaca blend is a 45:55 yarn split of our cormo sheep (corriedale cross merino) and our huacaya alpacas. The yarn is processed in Australia and the meterage is 190m per 100g.

The yarn is spun as an 8ply/DK weight and knits on a 4.00mm needle. As all knitters vary in tension, please do a tension swatch.

Here is the inspiration behind the names of our collection in the hope that it will inspire you too. Our collection was hand dyed by Louie & Lola Yarns.

Plum
These gnarled old trees are all that remain of the Lexington orchard from when South Arm was known for fruit production.

Mudstone
When walking atop the ridge line that shelters Lexington from the westerly winds, one often spies fossilised remains in the mudstone formations.

Lilac
Planted as part of the original farmhouse garden, these old trees fill the air with their heavenly scent.

Heather
Delicate soft pink-purple flowers provide a splash of colour against the silvery greens of our rugged wintery bush.

Fibre Information

The yarn knits up best on a 4.5 - 5.00mm needle. Although you can definitely use a 4.00mm needle. I found the test knit at 4.00mm needle to give a very dense fabric. As all knitters vary in tension, please do a tension swatch.

Fibre: Cormo 50% Alpaca 50%

Meterage: 190m per 100g.

Weight: a100g skein

Needles: 4.5 - 5.00mm needle.

Care: Hand wash in cold water using wool detergent. Rinse in cold water, roll in a towel to squeeze out excess water and dry flat.

Australian climate - perfect for wool

The vast, open pastures of Australia offer ample grazing areas, promoting healthy, well-nourished sheep that produce high-quality wool.

Tasmania's cooler climate provide ideal conditions for producing exceptionally fine wool, making it a renowned region for premium wool production in Australia.
