Sally Ridgway's 8 Ply or DK Supreme Sock yarn is a thicker weight sock yarn with the same combination of merino and nylon as her 4 ply Supreme Sock base.
With 85% Australian 19.5 micron non mulesed Merino and 15% nylon this yarn is super soft and squishy.
The 19.5 micron merino wool makes this yarn luxuriously soft and bouncy for next to skin comfort. A little nylon is added for extra durability.
The quality of the Australian merino wool is its softness which depends upon the fineness of the fibres at 19.5 microns which is some of the finest commercially available for hand knitters. This results in a versatile yarn that feels gentle against the skin and wears really well especially for those harder wearing items.
This yarn is so versatile and can be used for any next to skin project (scarves, jumpers etc) as well as items where a little more durability is required such as socks and gloves.
