The week of 2 March to 9 March sees the Tassie Yarn Ramble take place. You can choose to take part in all of the ramble or just pieces of it. If you join the ramble then you receive a passport and visit the activities/demonstrations to obtain a stamp. For both interstate and locals.
Below is the itinerary to whet your appetite.
Thursday 2nd March
Arrive in Hobart – make own way to chosen hotel (should be around $35 in cab or airport shuttle around $20).
10am – 5pm - Yarn Ramble – visit some of the venues on your passport. Check out our website for activities/demonstrations at different checkpoints.
Dinner and evening at own leisure.
Friday 3rd March
9.00am - Ramble Trip - We're off on a bus to the Bothwell Spin In (grab this chance to come along. Alternatively you can arrange your own transport and entry ticket. On the bus you’ll see some fab things along the way – your ticket price includes entry and transport (pick up at Campbell St Coach Stop) and you'll return to Hobart around 5pm.
10am – 5pm - Yarn Ramble – visit some of the venues on your passport. Check out our website for activities/demonstrations at different checkpoints.
WHAT ELSE?
Another option may be to drive or jump on the local bus to Richmond – it is an area steeped in history with the oldest bridge in Australia.
Whilst you’re there, drop off into Wicked Cheese – they have a great café with lots of award winning cheeses – mmmmm tasty!

Also keep in mind the Hobart Twilight Market is happening tonight at Macquarie Point.
Saturday 4th March
8am – 3pm - Salamanca Market or skip the Market and go to the Bothwell SpinIN.
Visit Salamanca Market – the market is held almost every Saturday of the year. There are a couple of stallholders on your passport – take this opportunity to get some extra stamps and enjoy wandering around the Market: so many wonderful things to hear, see and eat. And smell!

WHAT ELSE?
Be a lady drinking from “the nice cups” at an Afternoon Tea Experience at the historic Hadley’s Orient Hotel (Afternoon tea runs Wednesdays to Sundays between 2pm and 5pm – bookings essential on 6237 2999).

Sunday 5th March
10.00am - Ramble Trip - Off to the Huon Valley stopping at Woodbridge Hill Studio and Wharncliffe Alpaca Stud. Here is an opportunity to mark off some more on your passport. You will stop off somewhere fabulous for lunch and meander around this beautiful region returning to the city around 5pm. (includes transport - pick up at Campbell St Coach Stop). Tickets need to be pre-purchased during registration.

WHAT ELSE?
Take a trip to Bruny Island, via ferry leaving from the Brooke Street Pier check out timetables and things to do here – magical views, excellent cafes and distilleries, cheese, whisky and wine galore….

Monday 6th March
10am – 5pm - Yarn Ramble – visit some of the venues on your passport. Check out our website for activities/demonstrations at different checkpoints. Get cracking on marking off your passport – every stamp gets you in the running for a terrific prize.
6pm - Ramble Dinner - enjoy drinks and dinner at a beautiful venue – theme is “wonderful and woolly” - Tickets need to be pre-purchased during registration.
WHAT ELSE?
A trip to Hobart is not complete without visiting MONA – yes, it IS that fabulous! For a wonderful experience catch the Camoflage Cat to MONA via the Derwent or there is a bus service too. Around $25 for both – one way. There is lots to do at Mona besides looking at art…..

Tuesday 7th March
8.00am - Ramble Trip - Travelling north including stops at the Lucky Ewe in Oatlands and the Tasmanian Wool Centre in Ross. Also we’ll be dropping off at White Gum Wool with lunch included somewhere in between. (ticket includes lunch and transport - pick up at Campbell St Coach Stop). Here is an opportunity to mark off some more on your passport. Return to Hobart around 7pm.

WHAT ELSE?
Port Arthur is a hauntingly beautiful place, a must see if our country’s history is of interest to you. It’s an easy one and a half drive from Hobart, or you can arrange a bus tour or even catch a boat – more details can be found here.

Wednesday 8th March

WHAT ELSE?
I haven’t even mentioned any of the number of excellent wineries, distilleries, cideries and fooderies – Tasmania has got it all! Most deliver to the mainland…
